The Santa Clara de Asis Fall Wine Classic, held annually at the Richard Nixon Library and Presidential Museum in Yorba Linda, California is a wine event for the passionate connoisseur and novice imbiber alike.
This annual gathering of wineries and wine enthusiasts is held in the East Room of the Nixon Library. A replica of the White House, East Room on Pennsylvania Avenue, it is a classic and elegant setting to sample, sip and savor a new or familiar glass of wine. Between 40 and 50 wineries are in attendance to share the fruits of their labors. All of the wine growing regions of California are represented but expect to see wines from around the world. Not only do these winery representatives entice with their current offerings but they will eagerly educate and inform about their vineyard’s production highlights.
Tour the Richard Nixon Library and Gardens
The ticket for the Fall Wine Classic includes admission to the museum so take advantage of the opportunity to tour the nine acre facility including the museum, movie and video theaters and the First Lady’s Garden. The Library is dedicated to educating the public on the life of Richard Nixon while encouraging the study of government and history.
Also, located on the property is the birthplace and home of Richard Nixon, 37th President of the United States. Nixon was born in 1913 in this, since restored, farmhouse built by his father, Frank Nixon. With most of the furnishings in the home being original, there is a sense of what life was like here for the young boy who would be president.
California Wineries and Much More
Back to the East Room and continue tasting reds, whites and a fine selection of hors d’oeuvres provided especially for this event. Some of the many outstanding wineries that have attended in the past include, Lucas & Lewellan, Kim Crawford, Joseph Filippi, Luna Vineyards and Lancaster Estates.
In the adjoining room a silent auction is held. Wine related gifts, event tickets and sports memorabilia are just some of the items on display and ready to be taken home.
